I took the photograph above a number of years ago. It is one of our beloved New York covered bridges. This one is in Newfield, NY located just a few miles south east of Ithaca. It shows our weather at this point in the calendar. You know, that in-between stage – not fall and not winter – in-between. There is often snow in the air, and some stays until the morning sun, then it disappears. You know, the “in-between time.”
We all have such times in our lives, sometimes we do not even know why matters seem quite out of the ordinary and our placement a bit strange. Well, it seems the entire Body of Christ is in such a place. We do not realize it most of the time, but His love has grown richer in experience, His power fuller, His discernment clearer in us. I could excuse all this as just me getting older. But it’s not that at all. In fact, all of it causes a sharpness in us as we walk in His Spirit.
So what happens now? Really, I do not know. The Scriptures are coming alive so fast that I hardly know what to do with them – so much – so full! My quiet time with Him is altered and prayer, well, we (He and I) simply talk matters out and His insight is precious and new. What is happening? Things are changing, and sometimes they seem upside down and not ever right side up. Where is right side up anyway?
You might think it is all confusing, but it has never been clearer. Don’t get discouraged and think that because none of the old paradigms seem to work or be useful. It’s just the “in-between time.” Rest in Him and allow Him to lead you step by step into the fullness of tomorrow.
